Arizona RID Mentoring Program

Arizona RID has created a Mentoring Program! We have successfully completed two cohorts of the program.  We are continuing to make changes and improvements based on our experiences and the feedback we receive from participants as we move into our third cohort, and we would love for you to join us!

Cohort 3 of the Mentoring Program will begin October 4, 2014! Applications are now being accepted!

Our Mission: To create an ongoing Interpreter Mentoring Program in the state of Arizona that will close the gap between graduation from an IPP and interpreting proficiency and/or certification. The Mentoring Program will provide the following:

  • Training for Mentors and Apprentices
  • Screening of qualified mentors
  • Screening of potential apprentices
  • Assistance in matching mentors and apprentices based on qualifications and interests
  • Tools and resources (publications and activities) to assist the mentors and apprentices in setting and achieving goals
  • Monthly meetings for mentors and apprentices at which concerns can be addressed and additional resources can be shared in order to further develop the mentoring relationship (CEUs available)

Expectations: Participants are required to commit to the following:

  • Attend an initial two-day training.
  • Attend a monthly meetings with your mentor/apprentice
  • Actively participate in a mentoring relationship for the duration of the cohort (7-8 months)
  • Meet with your mentor/apprentice at least once per month in addition to the monthly meeting
  • Provide feedback to the Committee that will be used to improve the Mentoring Program for future participants.

If you have any questions regarding the Mentoring Program, please contact the Committee Chair, Vicki Bond at
